About Lowell Rose

 

Lowell Rose is a dedicated journalist and communications professional. Most recently working for WBTV News in Charlotte, NC. He is passionate about telling stories centered on people, issues, and covering events impacting the community. In Charlotte, Lowell focused on issues impacting marginalized communities, housing concerns, development, and transportation issues in the Charlotte region.

Lowell worked at WBTV in Charlotte for 2-years after working as a reporter and fill-in anchor for Spectrum News 1 in Rochester, New York.

In Rochester, Lowell focused heavily on education in the city of Rochester and surrounding areas. Lowell covered the death of Daniel Prude in police custody in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown and recovery, racial unrest, the aftermath of Rochester’s Mass Shooting in 2020, and the multi-million dollar budget deficit of the Rochester City School District.

Prior to working in Rochester, he was a reporter/fill-in anchor for NBC29 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Lowell covered the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville and the aftermath of the violent event on the city.

Lowell started his career in journalism as a Production Assistant, and Video Editor for CBS6 in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. While in Richmond, Lowell fine tuned his skills behind the scenes and worked his way up to becoming a full-time employee helping with the DCW50 newscast for the Washington, DC area.

He earned his degree in Broadcast Journalism from Mississippi State University, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the National Press Photographers Association.

Outside of work, Lowell enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, exploring nature, and finding cool places to eat.
